Os Style Rosemaling on Tree Cookie
This piece was shown at Vesterheim Folk Art Museum for their Socially Distanced, Creatively Connected show in 2021 reflecting on Covid. The trauma that has been experience through Covid will be there forever, similar to the missing wood where it has rotted away. There is beauty that came out of the pandemic, like spending time with family or getting to enjoy a passion, which for me was rosemaling. The missing center of the tree cookie represents the hole that will never be filled, but that beauty can still grow in the most difficult of situations.
